Ann Arbor producer Shigeto recently announced that his follow up album to last year's Lineage, No Better Time Than Now.  is due out August 20th on Matthew Dear's Ghostly International label. The first track released to preview the project is "Detroit Part 1," a smooth, acid jazz inflected track with a steady hip-hop beat to ground the spaced out beats and grooving keys. Combining elements of jazz and hip-hop in a way similar to  Flying Lotus, Shigeto develops the track over nearly five minutes, creating an incredibly layered sound that makes way for a synth heavy outro. If this is any indication of the direction of the rest of No Time Better Than Now, it has the potential to be one of the more intriguing releases in electronic music this year.
