Performing earnest alt-country, Dallas's Troy Cartwright is a serious songwriter who proves his chops on "Paris, TX," a reflective but melodic track from his upcoming debut. A graduate of the Berklee College of Music, Cartwright demonstrates songwriting expertise that places him in the same tradition as folk-country greats Townes Van Zandt and John Prine. His first EP, Bull Run, comes out June 11 and features pedal steel contributions from Grammy winner Lloyd Maines, who has recorded with Uncle Tupelo and Wilco.
