Bearhunter have long been torchbearers
of the Buffalo indie rock scene, as well as faves of the folks here
at buffaBLOG. For years, the group has been putting out a surprising
amount of crushing rock for a three-piece, and I wouldn't be the
first to compare them to Queens of the Stone Age. But there's a lot
of nuance and depth to the songwriting, like My Morning Jacket got into bed with Wilco, and this is their bastard son. Things have been quiet at
Camp Bearhunter for a bit, but it turns out the fellas have just been
working on a new album, Call It A Red, which they'll be releasing at Nietzsche's tonight (248 Allen St., 9:30PM). I've had
their last record, Still Life Terrarium, on repeat since I found out.
Fellow Buffalo rock torchbearers Johnny Nobody and the psych-pop quartet Aircraft fill out the bill. This show is sure to be an excellent
night of local music all around - not to mention, cover gets you a copy of the disc; don't miss it!
