Tonight: Guns N' Roses

What you see above is what has become of one of rock's most bad-ass front men. Axl Rose, whose transformation into some kind of alternate Van Morrison looking creature (don't forget that weird Predator look along the way) appears to be complete, is in town tonight with Gun N' Roses. Now the original LA based lineup (Slash, Duff, Izzy, and Steven) is no more, but today's incarnation is still chugging along, packing venue after venue, all with Axl leading the way.

People seem to be going to this show for a couple reasons. One, they LOVE Guns N' Roses, and no matter who is backing Axl, it's still Guns N' Roses. Just ask fellow buffaBLOGGER and self proclaimed super fan Jon Krol. Others, at least I think, want to see the side show. Just how big is Axl Rose these days? That yellow coat can only hide so much you know. Will a heckling fan cause him to take another stage dive? Will it start anywhere near the 9pm scheduled time?

This is the first show of a pretty big summer for the Outer Harbor Concert Series and, while not my cup of tea, I think they got it right by snagging the legendary hard rock act to open the season. When they teased the show, many people were screaming for GnR even before the formal announcement, and once it did become official, the internet temporarily shut down in Erie County from the excitement. If you decide you want to check it out, you can still grab some tickets online here for $58 a pop after fees or buy some at the doors, which open tonight at 8pm. In the mean time, set aside 10 mins and check out the video for "Estranged" below. That one is for you Jon!
