By the time he turned 18, King Krule had already released an impressive debut EP. Released in late 2011, King Krule combined stripped down instrumentation with Krule's soulful, world weary baritone voice. One of the most haunting records in recent memory, the fact that he was only 17 years old underscored just how impressive a feat it was. Now, about to turn 19, Krule has announced the release of his debut full length album, 6 Feet Beneath the Moon, to be released through True Panther and XL on August 24.
"Easy Easy" is the first single and shows definite signs of growth. Still pared down with only a single guitar behind the vocals, Krule's vocal restraint is, however, eventually loosened, giving way to near shouted vocals half way through and finally ending in seeming exhaustion. It is an exciting song from an artist who continues to compel. Hopefully, this will carry through the entirety of his debut LP.
