Those not heading to Flaming Lips have an excellent opportunity to hear one of Buffalo's best singer-songwriters (even if she is technically no longer a resident). Julie Byrne will be kicking off her tour, in support of her most recent 7", Faster or Greener Than Now, out on Orindal Records. Byrne's music is spare and haunting, anchored by her incredible voice. Past live performances have been hair raising as she usually performs, without amplification, in a pin drop silent room.

In addition to Byrne, there will be an exciting lineup of local and national performers including CS Luxem, Damian Weber, Jonathan Wood Vincent, and Jax. Finally, this strong bill is rounded out by buffaBlog Summer Party performer, Jack Toft, who will be doing -- one can only assume -- an array of exciting raps (as is his wont). The show is free, at the Triangle House (371 West Ave) and starts promptly at 9pm.
