London electronic musician Jon Hopkins' latest album, Immunity, is a compelling candidate for the best electronic album of 2013. With abrasive drums and slowly evolving deep grooves, tracks like "Open Eye Signal" and "Sun Harmonics" are representative of the intense, yet melancholic sound that has come to define Hopkins' work. The producer recently teamed up with like minded experimentalists Purity Ring for a remix of "Amenamy" and has just released a rework of "Breathe This Air" from Immunity featuring vocalist Megan James. The Montreal singer's soaring vocals are a perfect match for Hopkins' ethereal production, which provided a stabilizing element to a track that feels ready to unhinge amidst chaotic percussion and heavy synths. Look for it to be released as a "12 single along with the "Amenamy" remix.
