Tonight: Gwar w/Well Worn Boot

Colorful freak show rockers Well Worn Boot will set the stage tonight for the colorful freak show known as GWAR. The pairing couldn't be more appropriate.
If you're a local music fan and have never tasted the Boot before, your auditory diet is missing a few essential nutrients.
Bearing a rough edged agrarian appearance, the quartet plays loud, folksy freak rock that is darkly humorous and invigorating. Their frontman, Plainsman, plays a flute when not bellowing lyrics. Drummer Billy Klubb, wears a burlap sack over his head, which is presumably a souvenir from a hanging. Bassist Baby Buckingham's visage is obscured by a rosy cheeked porcelain doll mask and curly blonde locks; he speaks in a Miss Piggy voice and rocks a wife beater. Their guitarist, The Horse, is a horse. They are comic book characters. Are you sold yet?
GWAR barely needs an introduction. They're loud, messy and notorious for their heavy, ridiculously theatrical art rock performances. GWAR is proof that you don't need to see or be comfortable to make or enjoy heavy music. In fact, I think making people uncomfortable is an accomplishment that gives GWAR a gigantic hard on. Make sure you wear a white t-shirt to their show if you want a cheap, blood drenched article to remember the night by.
Anyone who's healthy and wholesome should go to this show ($24, 8pm). And those of you that aren't, have no excuse not to be there.
