Just Announced: Bring Me Your Vultures (Mohawk Place Documentary) Release Date

In January of 2013, Buffalo's most beloved venue, Mohawk Place, shut its doors to the world. Many tears were shed, as the Mohawk was not only a music establishment but a home for rock'n'roll outsiders who seemingly didn't fit in anywhere else. The cast of characters and patrons who occupied that small space are as much a part of the story as the building itself, and their stories live on, as do the legendary music performances that occurred there.

Bring Me Your Vultures is a documentary about Mohawk Place. For those not in the know, the fine folks at Quiet Country Audio (Paul Besch), Highwatermark Films (Mike Sobieraj), YOUR CINEMA (Ryan Besch), Erik Roesser, Roger Bryan and Harvest Sum (Mark Nosowicz) have been collaborating to tell its story, warts and all.

The film is set to be released January 11, 2014 at the Town Ballroom beginning at 9pm. Tickets go on sale this Friday at noon for $10 in advance/$15 day of at Tickets.com and at the Town Ballroom box office. In the meantime check out Bring Me Your Vulture's facebook page for upcoming trailers and free stuff.

This movie was made for the people of Buffalo. Mark this one on your calendars and revisit a time and place that brought us so many great memories.

  1. I am looking forward to seeing this for sure.
When I first got onto the Buffalo music it was primarily in the underground punk / hardcore scene. At that point in time Mohawk didn’t touch these shows as there was a general thought, and correctly so, that many of the persons going to these shows were either under drinking age or straight edge. These shows when not happening at a basement in the heights would happen at places like the basement bar, the atomic, and the backstage pub. There was little reward and heightened risk with these types of shows. After one of my thrash bands with a rather drunk and rowdy following (friends) played a Bob Log III show in 2002, on the small and only stage at the time, a realization occurred that assisted in the eventual inevitable creeping of hardcore into the show mix at the Mohawk. That band played their last show there a few years later. My next band played our first Buffalo show at the Mohawk. Without a doubt Mohawk had helpful hand in my personal experience with and in the Buffalo music scene.
