It's hard to believe it's been 20 years since TLC warned us against the pitfalls of chasing "Waterfalls," and 14 years since they advised us against dating "scrubs." The hits still sound fresh as ever, as the new compilation album 20 will likely demonstrate. Since it's customary for any greatest hits album to come with a new track, we get "Meant To Be," a Ne-Yo written anthem that figures to become a dominant presence on R&B radio in the immediate future. Between the excellent harmonizing, and the immediately memorable chorus, this is the TLC we came to know and love in the 90s. I doubt it will become the all-time anthem that "Waterfalls" did, but it's a great track nonetheless, and it's wonderful to see one of the best vocal groups of the 90s still making solid music.
