It can be hard to get excited about metal these days as the most commonly heard incarnation of it is the only-slightly-heavier-than-Nickelback crap that floods active rock radio stations. But if you're paying attention, you know there's a plenty of great stuff out there, and High on Fire are one of the most talented bands on the scene today. In their 15 years of existence, they've unleashed countless glorious headbangers upon the world, and the excellent "Slave The Hive" is their latest epic salvo. The song combines the heaviness of the most brutal death metal with the immediacy of old-school speed metal, and is an intriguing preview of a potential new HOF album. After more than a decade, High on Fire are still as brutal as any meta band around.
