Music is Art Needs Donations

There is no point in beating around the bush. Music is Art was a nightmare this year. The festival, which annually takes place at Delaware Park along the Albright Knox, Marcy Casino, and Hoyt Lake, was rained on like no other this last month. It was brutal. I went down there early in the day to try to make the best of it, and within 20 mins, I was drenched, cold, and full of mud. This wasn't summer festival muddy fun, this was cold misery. Despite their best efforts, even the vendors, volunteers, and musicians looked pretty miserable. Not a pretty picture.

Normally, the festival is a great fundraiser for Buffalo Public Schools music programs, but after being a complete wash (because rain), the organizers are in a big, financial hole. So they are asking for donations, from now until the end of the year, to help bail them out. An anonymous donor has graciously pledged to match every dollar donated. Not to mention, all donations are tax deductible. After such a great 2012 for the festival, its a shame MIA got dumped on by Mother Nature, but those are the risks for outdoor festivals I guess. 1. Any idea of how much money it takes to put on this event?

  2. This is super cool. I will start preparing for future events.
