Buffalo Iron Works To Celebrate Opening Weekend

Buffalo Iron Works, the newest venue in downtown Buffalo's Cobblestone district, is set to celebrate its grand opening this coming weekend. Following in the steps on the Waiting Room and the Gypsy Parlor, Iron Works is helping to fill in the gaps that recently departed and missed venues, like Mohawk Place, the Funeral Home, and Club Infinity (ok maybe not all are missed), have left.

Like most of the Cobblestone restaurants/bars, the venue (49 Illinois St.) will thrive on business from First Niagara events, even the nearly unwatchable Sabres, so expect some more accessible fare on those game/concert nights, like cover bands and such. Whether national touring acts, like last week's Plants and Animals show for example, will be part of the bar's regular programming remains to be seen.

Anyways, beginning Thursday, Nov 14th, at 7pm, Iron Works will host a weekend full of locally based or rooted musicians. Scheduled performers for the weekend will include Son of the Sun's Zak Ward and Buffalo's Tragically Hip cover band, Strictly Hip, because Buffalonians can not get enough of Canadian music. You can find the full lineup for this weekend here and you can get future dates at Buffalo Iron Works website.
