Tonight: Papadosio

Before Papadosio's set at Summer Camp Music Festival back in May, Anthony Thogmartin (lead singer, lyricist, and guitar) made a quick speech lamenting how they wish they were attending the Million March Against Monsanto. I paused, shot up from my supine position and stood at attention, shocked. Next, the group started a chant: "No, no, GMO" that rang throughout the several thousand people that were gathered to see them play. I was awed and inspired that a group would take the time to create awareness of the company some like to call Monsatan. Everyone was into it, even if they didn't know what they were shouting.

This is the kind of feel-good that comes from Papadosio's music, a sincere dedication to our world beyond the chaotic dance. Born out of Athens, Ohio, and now migrated to Asheville, North Carolina, Papadosio brings a progressive sound mixed with ethereal extended solos and layers of technological bliss. Their latest double album, T.E.T.I.O.S, or To End The Illusion of Separation, is an inspiring and intelligent commentary on the shift, a new paradigm--"Dream out loud/ make no sound/ find your cloud/and ride it round."

To experience the magic all you need is $17, a smile, and a teleportation device to Town Ballroom.
