Del Paxton. What can you say? Actually I can say a lot, but I’ll start with its members. We have Dylan England, Zack Schoedel, and Greg McClure [guitar/vocals, bass/vocals, and drummer/sing-along, respectively]. Their music, live and recorded, brings on a contradictory lethargic/energetic feeling. Their message is a stirring pot of hopeless nostalgia, while the music is vigorous [e.g: insert any DP song here]. The guys themselves are all super humbled; it’s a pleasure to know such nice people who also happen to be rock stars
They didn’t roll in along with the other trending bands swimming in the mainstream these days. All three members have been kickin’ late 90s emo since the late 90s, around when emo actually became a thing.
Dylan England, involved in the Fredonia college scene, has been in numerous bands [Longitude, Balto, Month being a few], all of which are commended in part to his excellent lyricism. From his Del Paxton repertoire: "I'd like your plans to fall right through me" from "Two Planes Away" and Buffalo's favorite line "Well I guess I'm burning a hole in your pocket" from buffaBLOG's BEST SONG OF THE YEAR "Motion Sick."
As for Greg McClure and Zack Schoedel, they go way back. Like waaay back, as in elementary school back in Ithaca: exchanging Valentine cards and linking together popcorn garlands and shit, I'm sure. When they were young teens, they started playing music together then eventually created Fairway, which went internationally viral online back in the days you had to visit your rich friend's to browse the web.
While all touring in different bands, they met and oddly enough ended up living in this great city of Buffalo, where jamming, again, became the roadway to another band, which is now the BFLO staple Del Paxton.
They will be playing buffaBLOG's Holiday Party at DBGB this coming Saturday right around midnight [okay, so technically Sunday]. Joining them will be Marine Biologist, Forealists, JOHNS, and SPORTS.
