As the world says goodbye to Nobel Peace Prize Winner, former political prisoner and later President of South Africa Nelson Mandela that we take a few minutes to honor his legacy and acknowledge the importance of music to the effort to stop apartheid and free Mandela with a live performance by South African trumpeter Hugh Masekela of his legendary pro Mandela hit "Bring Him Home (Nelson Mandela)." In addition to popularizing the anti-apartheid struggle and increasing awareness about Nelson Mandela's imprisonment, usic was one of the few ways for Mandela's message to be spread, and Masekela's message of hope and aspiration is direct, moving, and appropriate as we joyfully remember his world changing life.
