Noise electronic dance shaman Colin Ward of Alphabets has just released his 47th solo album. He is 24 years old. He currently resides in Denver, Colorado where he is co-curator of the longest running DIY space in the country: Rhinoceropolis. He is a creator of avant garde comedic YouTube sketches & contributor to spiritualist pamphlets/zines.
He also sends emails to businesses asking them if he can do "a media number rundown" on some of their "high performing sales items" & emails them a photograph of a super enlarged human scalp with a baby floating upside down & the word "Dove" written in cursive script in the upper right-hand corner.
I asked him to send me some info about the album & his personal growth as an artist / personality & he sent me 26 screenshots of human females having sex With Each Other in nature.
Some of you may recognize him from our show together at the Hop Inn, where he lept up & balanced, effortlessly, onto the corner of a very flimsy plastic table while simultaneously singing & pushing buttons on an SP555.
I asked him what he thought about Buffalo & he said "The people who hate you love you too much here. It's f*cked up." Yes it is Colin. Yes it is.
His brand new album Thru tha Rip was released last week.
I'm not trying to sound disingenuous, but after having toured with this kid, one sees how really unique his talent is and it's hard to stay objective, as former Rhino curator Travis Egedy (Pictureplane) points out in a review for Adhoc here.
I suggest wandering through his *VAST* catalog. I'm sure you will find PLENTY of gems that surprise & inspire you.
