Today/Tonight: Steak & Cake Records 3 Year Anniversary

About one year into the blog's existence, I had the pleasure to meet Brandon Schlia, a local musician who had just started his own DIY label called Steak and Cake Records. Brandon and I quickly became friends, as we both shared an interest and passion for Buffalo's growing local music scene. Starting off with a local sampler of musicians who would grow to become part of his musical community, Schlia and the label started to release some pretty great records from Buffalo acts including Damian Weber, Sonny Baker, Steven Floyd, and various friends from the Fredonia/Batavia area, in addition to a number of his own projects like the Malones and the New York Breakfast.

Beginning at 5pm later this afternoon and extending well into the night in Allentown, Schlia's Steak and Cake Records will be celebrating its 3 year anniversary. Starting at his apt (check event page for address), the first showcase will feature intimate performances from Inquiring Minds, Damian, Copy Manager, and others. Then later this evening at Nietzsche's, the label will host a round robin night of acts featuring Bethlehem Steel, the Etchings, Del Paxton, and more, utilizing various stages in the venue.

Admission for the early showcase is free. Nietzsche's, which starts at 10pm, costs $5. Come join and be part of today's special occasion.
