Tonight: Rhubarb, Lazlo Hollyfeld, Eric Crittenden

It's New Year's Eve, and there are endless things to do tonight, especially if you're a music lover. But you'd be hard-pressed to find a better bet than Cole's on Elmwood tonight - a bar not normally known for hosting live music. On the super-secret third floor private room, funk-jammers Rhubarb will headline a bill that also includes scene-mainstays Lazlo Hollyfeld and sax-man Eric Crittenden and his friends. Rhubarb's silky smooth grooves should be enough to beckon the new year in with style. According to its website, the Primus-inspired RhubarbSucks.com, tickets are no longer available online, but you might be able to pick one up at Terrapin Station or Headin' to Hertel, or, if they're still left, at the door tonight.

Wherever you choose to bring in the New Year, have fun, and be safe, kids. See you in 2012.

Tonight: Re Bop


Re Bop is a monthly improvisational session night at Merge (439 Delaware) featuring Jazz Saxophonist Eric Crittenden, guitarist VJ Brown, DJ Cutler, and Tone DiGesare on the MPC. This show has been described by Max The Greek of Psuedo Intellectuals as "inovative" and "changing the face of Buffalo music". Blending several genres you can expect extended Hip-Hop, Funk, and Jazz jams that you wish would never end. The set will feature guest Emcees, but only Zone has been announced at the time of this writing. This is a free show so leave your cover cash at home (or spend it at the bar). The fun begins at 10PM.
