Tonight: Mass Appeal & the Heavy Rotation After-Party

The Pierce Arrow Film and Arts Center will be taken over by fashion, art, and performance for one of Buffalo's most anticipated nights out: Mass Appeal. The hollowed out factory feel will house the "hyper-interactive experience" fashion show/fundraiser held by the Elmwood Village Association and producer Erin Habes. Mass Appeal showcases local artists and designers, promoting our city and the pleasantry and awe-inspiring homegrown talents. Special features, such as an interactive wall displaying Mass Appeal tagged tweets, will add to the hustle-and-bustle vibe. Buffalo, a city of movers and shakers, has been on an ever increasing up-trend. Mass Appeal's theme is to "Just Push Go!"

Check out what 2011's Mass Appeal was all about.

When the models have finished taking their runway steps, the buffaBLOG crew will be throwing the official after-party for the event, beneath the vaulted Pierce Arrow ceilings. For Mass Appeal attendees, the after-party is complimentary. For those who want to enjoy the dance party but couldn't make it to the fashion party, it's only a $5 cover. Music will be brought to you by four DJs, half from the Queen City and half from our Rochester neighbors. For the week leading up to the event, fellow bloggers did profile spotlights on the artists. Take a look below and listen into who they are and what they do. Then head over to the Pierce Arrow. Plus, by the time the party ends, it'll be perfect timing to head down to Allentown, or Chippewa if that's what tickles you.

buffaBLOG Heavy Rotation Artist Spotlight: Medison

Mass Appeal 2013 is finally upon us tomorrow night, and here at buffaBLOG we are super stoked to be presenting the after-party to the main event, Heavy Rotation: a buffaBLOG Dance Party. This week, we have been previewing all the DJ acts we will be showcasing, and last but not least, is "Your Boy" MEDISON! DJ Medison has had a big impact on Electronic Dance Music and dance parties in Buffalo since first moving here. Co-founder of the Queen City Cartel, Medison, aka Steve Rittner, has always been willing to push the boundaries, and not allow his Buffalo compatriots to become complacent. From his experiences in Orlando and NYC, he has been extremely helpful in the growth of the music and fashion scene in Buffalo in his own unique way, and it is fitting that he be the selector (DJ) for MASS APPEAL 2013, the quintessential Buffalo event that highlights the relationship between music and fashion.

Always keenly dressed, Steve brings cool with him wherever he goes, and when on the decks the party gets real. He will be spinning his mix of Dance and House music before, during, and especially after the event tomorrow night. When Heavy Rotation starts at approximately 9:45 you can catch Medison in the main room from 10:45 until Midnight! $5 at the door.

buffaBlog Heavy Rotation Artist Spotlight: ABCDJ

So, as you have probably heard, we here at buffaBlog have teamed up with Mass Appeal to host the best event in town on Saturday. How do we know it is the best in town, well we just do, why do ya have to ask me so many questions?! Seriously though, we know it is the best because we gathered some of our favorite WNY DJs and selectors to put on one hell of a dance party in the Pierce Arrow Building following Mass Appeal. What else could you possibly do that night? There is literally nothing.

This week, we are previewing the DJs who will be keeping you dancing on Saturday night.  So far we have previewed the totally awesome Cultr Club and the dreamy Crushes, but we honestly could not have a dance party in Buffalo without today's featured duo, ABCDJ.

ABCDJ are the interstellar team of Sherri Miller and Mario Fanone and they have been performing together in various guises for several years. While each is ludicrously talented in their own right, together they form some sort of cosmic power storm of good vibes. Whether it has been a dj set or their own stellar original compositions, if you have ever danced for what you wished was an eternity while a couple in hazmat suits has played sounds that would not stop blowing your mind, than you have been under the spell of these two. So head on down to Heavy Rotation and see them in the VIP Room (open to all after the fashion show) from 10:45 until Midnight. Join us as we are sure to blast off into the farthest and most mind expanding reaches of the cosmos.

buffaBLOG Heavy Rotation Artist Spotlight: Crushes

This Saturday (November 23rd) buffaBLOG will be curating the official after party for the 2013's Mass Appeal in the Pierce Arrow Film Arts Center(1685 Elmwood Avenue) . buffaBLOG has put in a lot of effort, handpicking a mix of DJs that we think are capable of making you dance, even if you think you are too cool to.  We are very excited to introduce a Crushes DJ set in Buffalo, For those unfamiliar, Crushes is the meeting of two minds, David Lee Rad and Laura “LuLu” Robinson, that results in a relentless four-to-the-floor mega-shaking super party.  Along with three other very talented DJ acts (Buddy Budinski of CULTR CLUB, ABCDJ, and Medison), Crushes will without a doubt bring the party. I’ll see you on the dance floor. I’ll be the guy going unreasonably HAM.

buffaBLOG Heavy Rotation Artist Spotlight: Cultr Club

Its party week here at the blog as the debut of our new series, Heavy Rotation, is set to go down this Saturday, Nov 23rd. Beginning at 9:45 over at the Pierce-Arrow Building (1685 Elmwood Ave), Heavy Rotation will act as the official after-party to Mass Appeal 2013, the annual fashion show/fundraiser put on by the folks over at the Elmwood Village Association.

Having two rooms at our disposable Saturday evening, we were able to bring in four of the best DJ acts that Western NY has to off. Kicking things off in the VIP Room will be buffaBLOG party vets Cultr Club. Based out of Rochester, the Bug Jar's house DJ crew of Cultr Club, which at any given night can include members of Joywave, KOPPS, and tonight's special guest, Buddy Budinski (pictured above), will be bringing an infectious set of electro-pop jams down the I-90.

Folks looking to get down to cuts from acts like Hot Chip, Empire of the Sun, Chormeo, and The Whitest Boy Alive would be best to be at the Pierce-Arrow at 9:45 sharp to catch Buddy's set. Entry is only $5, or if you have already purchased your ticket to Mass Appeal, you are good to go.

Just Announced: buffaBLOG Presents Heavy Rotation

Remember all of those great, reoccurring dance parties that used to be sprinkled over the city? Parties like Shock & Awe, Communist Party, and Friction? Yeah we do too, and we miss them. So we thought of starting up a dance party series of our own, and lucky for us, we have been given a great opportunity to launch. The fine folks over at the Elmwood Village Association and Mass Appeal have asked the blog to curate an after party to the annual fashion show/fundraiser set to go down at the Pierce Arrow Building (1685 Elmwood Avenue) on Saturday, November 23rd.

The first edition of Heavy Rotation will feature sets from some of Western NY's best DJs including Medison NY, ABC DJ, Rochester synth duo Crushes, and blog party vets Cultr Club.  Full event details for Mass Appeal can be found at the show's event page. Heavy Rotation will kick off at 10pm sharp and will run until 12:30am. Cover is $5, but if you already have purchased Mass Appeal tickets ($35/$125), then you are good to go.

Check out an exclusive mix below from David Lee Rad, one half of Crushes, for a taste of what is in store at Heavy Rotation.
