Jeremy Jermaine Jerome Preps "Close to Extinct"

For over two years now, the fascinating mystery that is Just Ending Now/Jeremy Jermaine Jerome has been a frequent presence in our inbox. Cryptic messages, old photos, and a successful duel with the infamous 27 Club have all kept the visual artist/rapper on our radar. Quite frankly, he has made the city just a bit more interesting since he returned home. I was pleasantly surprised to see him hanging out of the Artvoice float/car on Mardi Gras this year, locking eyes with him as he yelled "I told you I would be back!"

With his Weapon: Canonization project behind him, JJJ has set his focus on his next project, titled "Close to Extinct." Billed as "the turning point for humanity," the bill will feature JJJ, local beat boxer, orator, and interviewer extraordinaire SCANTRON, Charlotte rapper Scyheed, and the mysterious Timmy, as well as art installations and live drawing from artists Max Collins and Mickey Harmon.

"Close to Extinct" is set to go down at the DNIPRO Ukrainian Center on Saturday, July 20th, beginning at 8pm. What will actually happen? Jeremy is not a fan of social media, meaning no facebook event page, meaning your guess is as good as mine. That's the fun thing about a Just Ending Now event though. If you are as uncomfortably intrigued with JJJ as I am, maybe it's worth taking a look for yourself. Tickets are currently available for $10 at Ashkers Juice Bar because, well, why not.

My emails from Buffalo's rapper/visual artist Just Ending Now, or Jeremy Jermaine Jerome, are always some of my absolute favorites. The guy reveals just enough to catch my attention, but not enough to show his full hand, as he poses lyrical puzzles for me to decipher his messages. Yesterday, I received my latest from JJJ, with a curious and to the point subject line of "this is goodbye!" Is he leaving the game behind or just his much loved home town? Allentown has been suspiciously absent of him since the holidays. Could this be the last Buffalo has seen of JJJ? Give a listen to his latest track, the Dead Beatz produced "Debt," while we try to figure this all out.

Update: A follow up email was received this morning with the subject line of "I told you I was going to be the first to survive" with the following photo attached. Has JJJ beat the 27 Club?

Tonight: Just Ending Now's Final Act of Weapon: Canonization

After months of hints and Easter eggs, visual artist/rapper Just Ending Now aka Jeremy Jermaine Jerome will premiere the final piece of his magnum opus Weapon: Canonization in the form of an unknown and untitled short video. Currently going under the working title of the Final Act of Weapon: Canonization or This Film Will Be The Death Of Me, So Shoot Me, the clip will premiere early this evening at 6:06pm(logically) at Squeaky Wheel on 712 Main Street. As a primer for tonight, check out JJJ's last music video released earlier this year.

Tonight: Jeremy Jermaine Jerome as Just Ending Now

buffaBLOG’s favorite alt-rapping, mullet-sporting seasonal Buffalo resident* Jeremy Jermaine Jerome , will be making his return to New York tonight performing as Just Ending Now at The Soundlab (110 Pearl St.). Triple J’s sound is like a more abstract Buck 65 or if an industrial-ier Cex took up rapping again. At points, Jerome’s jarring instrumentals are so intense it’s almost cacophonous, but his cryptic flows are as gripping as they are perplexing. Describing his music is not giving him justice because JJJ/Just Ending Now is just as much (if not more) a visual artist. Also on the bill is local juggalo/rapper, A.J. Jordan and reps from the next generation of Buffalo hip-hop, 12 & Konspiracy. Doors are at 8pm and tickets are $10.

New Short Film from Just Ending Now

One of buffaBLOG's favorite local artists has finally returned home for the summer, and with him, a short film followed. The piece from Just Ending Now, or Jeremy Jermaine Jerome, is titled "- - - - -", an "adapted short film of true events from a Weapon: Canonization musical composition entitled the same." As only JJJ could put it, the short is "a cinematic quest of for an individual to form their own ideas and opinions with no discretion or outside influence to interpret to anyone else's standard but their own and feeling confident in doing so. It is a definitive piece of art though projected with the empowerment of being open-ended for every audience to embrace one is not for all but all is for one, life." Just Ending Now filmed the short, which you can watch below, in North Carolina through ROY productions. Make sure to keep this Friday open to catch the real thing as JJJ will be performing at Soundlab.

Listen to "Dilapidated" from Just Ending Now

"A puzzle piece and the whole picture". Those words led off one our our incoming emails yesterday, and if you follow us enough, you know those words could only be from Just Ending Now, the project of Buffalo born rapper/entertainer Jeremy Jermaine Jerome. The email also contained his latest single "Dilapidated", which was produced by the Dead Beatz. The single is part of Just Ending Now's project of conception, growth, and maturation. According to JJJ, "Dilapidated" is an 'act of devotion for prosperity in a place where it's easy to lose hope' and is a part of his still realizing project, with his recently released album Weapon: Cannonization being his baptism, er, baptizm. After conversations with JJJ, he is planning his return to the Queen City to work on new projects and performances, which we will of course keep you up to date on. Jeremy Jermaine Jerome returns with Weapon: Canonization

"Realized what to show, by identifying with the unknown"

When I opened a package I received in the mail last week and found myself reading those words, I knew exactly who the sender was( I also looked at the return address, but that's beside the point). Just Ending Now, the musical project by local rapper Jeremy Jermaine Jerome, has released it's latest album, titled Weapon: Canonization. The first single from the album, "In Paranoia" leads off the 4 track EP, and can be listened to below. In addition to the new release, JJJ is keeping busy as he plans to head down to Austin for the South by Southwest Music Festival later this week, guerrilla style of course. As always, JJJ will keep us in the loop in regards to his current projects so hopefully we will be receiving a SXSW progress report from him soon.
