Uncovered Cover: When Saints Go Machine cover The Verve

Anybody who was alive in the 90's is familiar with The Verve's massively overplayed anthem "Bittersweet Symphony".  The song is a timeless capsule into that decades penchant for rough breakbeat drums and Brit Pop sensibilities. Such a recognizable anthem seems like a bold choice for a cover song, but Denmark's When Saints Go Machine is up to the challenge.  Right from the get go things take an abrupt turn from the original, with singing synths and bells draped over heavily treated vocals.  If you're going to cover a well known song, it's best to make it your own.  The chord modulation brings out a different dimension to the classic tune, which by today's standards is more than a little monotonous.  I don't foresee this version making it into Nike ads anytime soon, which is high praise.
