Toats Orig Presents Tommy Too's New Video: "Get It Good"


Wacko art brand, Toats Orig, presents a new video with Buffalo rapper Tommy Too styling, at what is very clearly the Buffalo Zoo, his new track "Get It Good" [MD SOD AMINALS EDiT]. I think that's the allusion to the zoo itself.

Definitely a solid effort on this video. The simple visual, directed by Malt Disney, was partially zazzed up with interesting shots, cuts, and effects. Tommy Too's animated expressions (see above photo) completed the "zazziness," with his "I don't get it, mans." The beat is 80s/early 90s-era simple and sweet, while his delivery is on point and as entertaining as his facial expressions.

I give a B++ for the vid - check it out and support the Toats Orig brand by watching their many other videos and Tommy Too, by replaying "Get It Good."

Tonight: Hardware Summer Slam w/ Khari Mateen


Musician, composer, producer Khari Mateen will be performing at Allen Street Hardware this evening for the bar's inaugural Hardware Summer Slam.  The Philly native, known for his production work with hip hop group The Roots on their Grammy nominated The Game Theory album, will be bringing his stellar backing band along for the ride, many of whom have worked with Talib Kweli, Lauryn Hill, Macy Gray, and more.  Mateen and his band will be playing selections off his debut album, Wait for Sunrise(stream below), a collection of laid back, groove laden R&B.

Joining Mateen will be an eclectic variety of Buffalo musicians included the Chillharmonic Orchestra, Kinda Like Dreamin's Dr. Ooo(one of our favorite new MCs), Essential Vitamin Crew's Tommy Too, and guitarist Dave Melillo.

Cover is $5 prior to 11:00pm, $8 after.  So get there early and use those three bucks towards one of Hardware's many tasty beverages.  Music kicks off at 10:00pm at the front room stage.
