Just Announced: Yellow Ostrich

I'd like to thank my fellow buffaBLOGGER Katie for turning me on to Yellow Ostrich late last year.  After recommending the NPR approved Wisconsin act, in particular the single "Whale", I quickly became a fan of the lo-fi indie folk group, especially those layered vocals.  Well, as it turns out, Yellow Ostrich will be making a stop in Buffalo on Sunday, March 4th at Mohawk Place in support of their upcoming release Strange Land, which is set to drop just two days later on March 6th.  Neither Yellow Ostrich or Mohawk's website list ticket prices yet, but bet on this costing you no more than $12 or so.  Listen to "Whale" below for yourself and maybe I will see you there.

Uncovered Cover: Yellow Ostrich covers Eiffel 65

If you were to ask me what my least favorite song of all time is, the answer would hands down be the 1999 hit "Blue (Da Ba Dee)" by Eiffel 65.  I seriously hate that song, but something I don't hate is the band Yellow Ostrich. I've been loving their song "Whale" for the past couple weeks and couldn't resist but to give a listen to their attempt to cover my most loathed song.  Thank you Yellow Ostrich for giving this song a melody, real drums, vocal harmonies and real musical integrity. You made the world a better place.
