For this artist preview, I will be talking about Rusko. Rusko, or Christopher Mercer, is an 26 year old English dubstep record producer and DJ out of Leeds, England. Rusko has multiple singles, and last year released his album entitled, OMG! Mercer strays away from the some of the more intense dubstep that some may not care for and creates a much more uplifting and upbeat sound. Ruskos' music has been remixed by the likes of Drop the Lime, Scratch Perverts, Santogold, and even worked with M.I.A on her third release, Maya. Last year at Camp Bisco, Rusko, performed at the dance tent right after Girl Talk and took us early in to the morning. Mercers' sound is so infectious it can make even the most vocal of dubstep critics start bobbing their heads. With the schedule coming out shortly, I am again hoping Rusko gets a nice late night time slot and provide me more reasons not to sleep this year. Remember, Camp Bisco is only 16 days away!
Every year, Camp Bisco makes improvements to their festival that is already put on incredibly well, and makes it that much better. Last year, they added a second stage on the main field, to make switching bands much easier. This year, they've gone and added a second late night dance tent, which really is going to improve my experience at Camp Bisco. The dance tent is my favorite part and now that there is two, I am going to be a dancing fool.
