Buffalo has a lot of great record shops and places to buy independent music; Spiral Scratch, Record Theatre, Frizbees, the Record Baron and the list goes on and on. However, when I mention Doris Records I usually get confused looks. "Never heard of it" is the typical response. Yet, Doris music is one of Buffalo's longest running independent music stores and home to a great selection of local and national music. The store mainly specializes in hip-hop and r+b but every now and then you get lucky and find some rare gem, seemingly out of place, that reminds you why independent record shops are so rad. If your a true collector or lover of hip-hop this is the place to get the latest mix tape or discover a hip-hop classic waiting to be unearthed. I know I've found albums in their before that made me do a double take and go "holy shit! I can't believe they've got this." The store is located on the east side of Buffalo, at 286 E. Ferry, so if your in the area or looking for a new store to explore, check it out.
