We've talked about Grace Potter a lot on buffaBLOG over the past year... she made our Top 100 songs of 2010 list and was also featured as one of our Uncovered Covers. Her most recent show at The Town Ballroom was an incredible amount of fun and now she has returned to perform at the Square tonight! The only thing better than free music... is free music that is actually good. Between her impressive vocals, wailing organ, rocking backing band and the fact that she's flippin' hot as hell... Grace knows how to put on a show.
I first saw Grace Potter and the Nocturnals at moe down a few years ago and since then her sound and overall appearance has completely transformed. What used to be a homegrown hippie from Vermont is now a blond bombshell rocker chick in short dresses and 4 inch heels. I haven't decided which version of Grace I prefer and in the end it doesn't matter because every show I've seen has been great. I'd like to see any of the great male musicians perform the way she does in 4 inch heels.
Opening for Grace Potter is LA based funk-soul band Fitz and The Tantrums and I couldn't be more excited! I've seen the name of this band mentioned in a few different places and now that I've taken the time to listen to their music, I've realized I need to get there right at 5 tonight! They were recently featured as VH1's You Oughta Know artists, and performed on Jay Leno and Conan. See them now while the show is still free!
Other than the great music, you should go to the Square just because it could very well be the last one. **note: this is just speculation** It is at least the last show at Lafayette Square this year because the rest of them will be at the harbor front. I have a feeling Buffalo Place is just easing us into the idea of all the shows taking place at the harbor but we shall see.
