Seasoned soul songstress Bettye LaVette takes on the Tralf tonight. LaVette is a longtime favorite in many soul and R&B circles, though her fame has been intermittent since the early 1960’s. Her first single, “My Man – He’s a Lovin’ Man,” was released in 1962 and became a top ten R&B hit. Over five decades, LaVette continued to release singles and albums, finally breaking into celebrity with her 2005 album I’ve Got My Own Hell to Raise. Her music has evolved into an exciting mélange of country, soul, blues, folk, pop, gospel, and of course R&B.
