Buffalo is pretty fortunate to be home to Odiorne and the Jimy Chambers crew. As part of Mercury Rev (who started off scoring classmates' films at SUNY Buffalo's Media Studies department in the 80s), Chambers helped keep psychedelia alive through the miserably mainstream 90s, and is part of the reason why The Flaming Lips consider Western New York somewhat of a second home today. His post-Rev project, Odiorne, was putting out beach pop jams while you were still applying for the Media Studies program and jamming Hot Hot Heat between AIM sessions, so pause the new Real Estate joint and pay homage at Mohawk Place tonight (47 E. Mohawk, 8PMish). Support comes from the electric Magi Chippie, and Vic Lazar's indie-folk ensemble Vox Humana.
