Just Announced: Cursive

What an incredibly awesome week for Buffalo and music in general. First, there was the announcement that At the Drive-In would be reuniting. Then we caught word that the Shins would be releasing their first album in five years. And who can argue that the recently announced Coachella lineup may be the best festival lineup in the last ten years. Well, to top it off, it was just revealed that Cursive is coming to town March 30.

If you've followed indie or alternative music for several years you know who Cursive is, or you've at least heard the name. The Saddle Creek alumni are one of those rare bands that made a name for themselves by creating a sound that could only be described as their own. In a musical landscape riddled with copycats and uninspiring artists, the group somehow managed to reinvent the indie genre. Cursive have become enormously popular as a cult band, existing just below the radar of mainstream. The Ugly Organ (2003) remains in many indie critics top ten all time lists (although I personally like their earlier material). And if you haven't heard the band your missing out.

March 30th you'll find them at Mohawk Place. I can definitely see this show selling out, so you'd be well advised to get your tickets in advance. In addition to being totally awesome in the studio, they are even more totally awesome live. $15 is nothing to pay for a show that may very well rate as one of the best shows of 2012 (if not your life).
