The Lemonheads are a cult band in every sense of the word. Group sets themselves apart from the get-go with incredibly catchy alternative rock sound (a musical form just coming into its own in the late '80s), experiences a bit of success, then fades from the limelight but never strays far from fans hearts. In fact, their popularity continued to grow as did the legend of Evan Dando, enigmatic frontman and former crack abuser. Despite a lengthy hiatus, the Lemonheads returned in 2005 and signed with Vagrant records and, then, the End, and has been lighting fires ever since. Every now and then the Lemonheads tour around an album, tonight being the bands classic fifth "It's a Shame About Ray" (Town Ballroom, 8pm). The album will be played in it's entirety along with a bunch of other classic jams from their lengthy catalog. If you were around in the early/mid 90's you know just what a Lemonheads show means and how special they were. Contender for 2012 show of the year? You'll have to be there to find out.
