Concert Review: Santigold

Santigold had not one lull during her brilliant show at Town Ballroom on Wednesday May 16th. In addition to her incredible voice, there were outfits of vibrant hues, a horse costume and two back-up dancers clad in sunglasses which conclusively made for a true performance.  Fans were noticeably pleased when song-after-song she blew them away with her stunning prowess and although the back-up dancers bore expressionless faces, their moves complimented Santigold's lyrical dazzle.  It was a show that was far from leaving a taste of disappointment on your tongue and surely are still reveling in the afterglow.  During "Creator" she had girls from the crowd on stage to dance to the fast-paced tribal sounds; one girl fronted a back-up dancer, approaching her with a joking sense of toughness.  The crowd applauded the dancer who, obviously more bad-ass, merely crossed her arms and was in no way losing their impromptu staring contest.  Santigold's invitation for this group interaction brought a dynamic to the show; that she isn't untouchable, that she has passion for her fans. It was phenomenal to see tunes from her newest album, Master of my Make-Believe, live along with the oldies that got me loving her to begin with.  From "Lights Out" to "This Isn't Our Parade," the Ballroom was getting down and singing along.

On the brink of something close
People know that I write
Know I'm grappling with a ghost"
