Justin Townes Earle was living the rock'n'roll lifestyle when he was just twelve years old. Hooked on drugs it looked like JTE was going to be another talented, dead, son-of-a-famous musician. Fortunately he turned things around and hasn't looked back since. With five albums to his credit, an AMA (Americana Music Award) and other accolades, the 30 year old Nashville product has swooned crowds with his delicate blend of blues, americana and pure country. In a world where Carrie Underwood is considered country, and John Mayer is considered blues, one has to scrape a little harder to hit the grit, and JTE is the grit, the rust, and the chipped paint all rolled into one. He's the real deal.
If you missed him at Mohawk Place last year fret not. JTE will be in town tonight, albeit at a much larger venue; the Town Ballroom. Opening the show is Tristen, an excellent female-fronted Nashville group (actually it's just Tristen Gaspadarek, but i'm sure she'll have a band with her). 7pm is the time. $19 pre-sale (more at the door) is the price.
