When my friends ask me about Atmosphere what I usually tell them is this. Imagine an emcee who takes real life situations and rhymes about them. We're not talking in the politically conscious sense like Talib Kweli, and we're not necessarily talking about street life either, in the same way NWA screams "Fuck the Police". We're talking about being frustrated with getting up in the morning and have to make your way through a repetitive existence. Working hard and going nowhere. These are themes that Slug and crew weigh heavily on, and it's brought them much success, partly because the lyrical content is so relatable and partly because they're just damn good at it.
