Tonight: PUNK N' TOTS Mid-Winter Beach Party



Buffalo is notorious for its confusing weather, and weather confused citizens.  While visiting Californians may still be shivering in their long underwear tonight, Broadway Joe's will be soaking in the glorious 46 degree weather with a beach party, complete with punk n' tots.

Mayday! will be performing, and their heavy hitting B-52's esque track "Blood Bath" could be this event's party anthem. With such delicious song titles as "Shark Sandwich" and "Illegal Alien vs. Child Predator," they're sure to give an electrifying performance, so you best wear a swimsuit made of rubber.

 The reverb drenched tones of Aaron and the Burrs will propel attendees they ride the waves and surf the crowd. Embrace the ocean of thrashing instrumental surf rock.

 The Televisionaries out of Rochester will round off the set with dirty, gritty surf punk.

 Start the weekend tonight with music to break down sandcastles to.  Admission is a cheap five bucks, and cheaper if you show up in beachwear attire and don't skimp on the sun lotion.

 Doors at 9PM, Surf's up at 10.

Tonight: Pleasure Industry


Broadway Joes, a venue traditonally known for their jam-based rock, hip-hop, and metal acts, has, in recent months, been hosting a number of great punk rock shows. This is thanks to the people at Punk'n'Tots and Black Dots. Over the past few months, The Punk'n'Tots weekly series has slowly built a following with some of Buffalo's best punk bands on display along with some pretty fantastic national acts. It's nice to see the heights longtime (and only?) music club injected with some new vitality, and I, for one, am thankful.

Tonight, NYC's Pleasure Industry graces the stage, along with the Queen City's own, Resist Control (10pm, $5). Hardcore punk rock for those that like it fast, hard, loose, and slightly uncomfortable. Tonight: Punk N' Tots


After years of being the only place to go if you're stuck in the heights with the Allentown blues, or the place you agreed to go to support your girlfriend's little brother's unintentionally-throwback metalcore/terrible-rap band, Broadway Joe's is starting to book some pretty good shows these days. Perhaps this is the result of like every other venue closing this year, mixed with the hand of the market. Either way, good looks. For instance, the next instance of the Punk N' Tots series is tonight, which brings some of the city's best and dingiest garage and punk groups out to the skidrow oasis. This installment features Gurr from Germany, along with locals Thaals and Cross Stitch (the 'lady band' lineup is probably more of a coincidence than a grab-em-by-the-dick marketing ploy, since the band'll bite your head off BEFORE you do the sex stuff), as well as ridiculously cheap beers and tater tots with each drink (which is fucked up, in a good way). 3051 Main St., 10PM, $5. Take the train to Lasalle, do beers and punk, then wake up in a ditch.
