Review/Photos: Rockin' at the Knox

To be honest, I was a little upset with myself after paying for my ticket and walking into the show Friday. It want the cheapest ticket in town and I'm not exactly the richest man. But after knocking back a couple beers and watching Bradford Cox loop some guitar licks, the buyers remorse started to fade. I'm not well versed in Deerhunter or his solo stuff but I liked what I heard.  It was spacey.  After a small break and another beer it was time for The National.  This was pretty much the reason I caved in and paid for a tix, and man was it super good. By the time front dude Matt Berninger walked into the crowd to finish singing the encore I knew I had made a wise choice.  At one point during their set he sang a song where he was actually screaming and not doing the usual monotone spoken word thing.  Rufus Wainwright headlined the night and like Atlas Sound is an artist whose material I know very little of.  Playing piano by himself while sipping wine; it all seemed very elegant and a good way to end the night. well done Albright Knox, well done.
