Chylde breaks up

It's a sad day in the local music world when a good band decides to call it quits. A couple days ago Chylde made the announcement official on their facebook & myspace pages that it was over. By far one the best bands to come from Buffalo's bluesy garage, rock n' roll music scene, these stoner metal titans gained quite a large following through out the years. Buffalo News music critic Jeff Myers was a huge fan, even writing an cover story for the Sunday paper's Spotlight section. I remember one show in particular where there were so many people packed into Merlin's I seriously thought the floor might break. Below is the final statement from the band. buffaBLOG and the rest of Buffalo wish you guys all the best.

To all the friends we've made in the last 3 years,

The road has come to an end. Thank you to everyone for everything. If we slept on your floor, were lucky enough to have you say kind words about us, if you helped fix our van, got us a show, came out to a show, lent us equipment, took pictures of us or simply listened to our music, we appreciate it more than you could know. We owe you all so much, and your support has been an inspiration to each of us. There will be no last show. There will be music coming from each of us in various forms in the near future. Don't take anything for granted. You are all loved.

  1. Bad times. Glad I got their CD though...too bad they never got around to making a vinyl press of it :(

  2. what a shame... they were one of my favorite bands in buffalo.

  3. I was shock to hear this too! I saw them play some shows over the years and they were always incredible. I remember the first time that I saw them play at Merlins. The sound was like a tidal wave. I thought that I might go deaf! During that show I thought to myself, this must be what it was like to see Black Sabbath play in their early years. Truly a great band and a sonic force to be reckoned with. Their music will be missed.
