The local music scene appears to be shifting. For a while the scene was control by the guitar heavy, bluesy garage rock bands that played music as dirty as the venues they were playing in. Bands like Chylde, The Found, Handsome Jack, Johnny Nobody, Bearhunter, etc. Well now the pendulum might be swinging the other way, with the emergence of synth heavy glittery electro pop bands like Love Scenes, Catamaran, and newest edition, The Bird Day. People will undoubtedly compare The Bird Day to Passion Pit with the soft but powerful falsetto vocals and singalong chorus, although Prince also comes to mind. There will also be MGMT, Dolorean, and maybe even a few Flaming Lips comparisons in the mix too. But that isn't necessarily a bad thing. Those are some pretty good bands to have your name connected to. Also on the bill is Summer People. Cover is only 5 bucks and the facebook event page says it goes 6 to 1030.

This is gonna be a great show... everyone should go. seriously.
I missed this show! I wonder how a synth band goes over in a club? We don't see much of them these days in the local scene. Although it would be good to see more of them. Thanks for this post! New music to dig!
