Make your monday night sooo much better than usual and take my advice... attend this show. I'm equally excited to see all three of these bands live. Starting around 8:45 pm, local pysch pop band The Bird Day takes the stage to start the night off right. We had the pleasure of interviewing Julian Kowalski from the band last week. The Bird Day is one of the promising and exciting bands to emerge in Buffalo in a long time. Get there early enough to see this band live before they get too popular for the Mohawk Place stage.
The second band is an indie rock band from Nova Scotia called Wintersleep who although aren't that popular yet in the US, they've already won 2 Juno awards in Canada. I just recently got a copy of their newest cd and haven't been able to stop listening to it. The band started off as a side project, but their overwhelming success in Canada inspired them to continue full time. Drummer Loel Campbell was actually one of the original members of one of our favorite bands Holy Fuck. These guys will keep you entertained while you wait for the headlining act, The Besnard Lakes.
Also a Canadian band, The Besnard Lakes was formed by a husband and wife duo in 2003 and since then have completed three amazing albums. Their sound is almost a combination of The Bird Day's electronic infused psych pop mixed with Wintersleep's indie rock sound. The Besnard Lakes completes a stellar selection of music, thanks to supernaut booking.
Check out some songs below and head over to Mohawk Place tonight! Doors at 8 pm, $12.
