Truck-stop indie punk rockers Arctic Death will be opening our birthday party this coming Friday and If you've never listen to them before, today's little spotlight should help you get acquainted. The East Aurora rock trio is comprised of singer/bassist John Cook who leads the band with his thundering bass notes and his soulfully gritty voice, guitarist Steven Floyd, who adds sharp noodly guitar leads between choruses, and drummer Harrison Scott Crook who controls the tempo with his timely kick drum thuds and hi-hat snaps. Just listen to 30 seconds of any one of their songs and you'll understand that this band has an infectious sound that's spastic but still well organized. Probably the most impressive aspect of the band is how balanced the structure is of each song is.  It's complex and it's simple, but it's never boring. Their music can achieve that upbeat garage-punk vibe without sinking into that traditional three cord punk progression of so many ho-hum bands. So take a listen and then get to our party right at 10pm sharp Friday night so you don't miss out on one of the best bands of the night.
