Artist Spotlight: The Tins

Today we conclude the band portion of our week long spotlight series on all of the musicians playing the buffaBLOG Birthday Party tomorrow night at Nietzches as we showcase The Tins.  The Buffalo trio, which seems to have been heavily influenced by post-punk band Television, features the dual vocals of Mike Santillo and Adam Putzer. While their vocal interplay recalls our favorite Wolf Parade songs, Santillo's synth heavy keyboards and Putzer's crunchy to languid guitar provide the melodic presense to the steady, subdued drumming of Dave Munter.

Their 2010 self titled EP has been in constant rotation for many of us with buffaBLOG, featuring the bouncy, new wavy "Backbone", whose guitar recalls Television's "Marquee Moon", and of course the epic post rock standout "Green Room" which has been recognized in a hand full of music publications, including NME, as one of the best songs of 2010.

With all of the great bands in Buffalo right now, The Tins appear to be on the cusp of breaking out.  It would not surprise anyone hear at buffaBLOG to see them appearing on a festival bill at any time now.  The Tins will be our final band of the evening tomorrow night before DJ Medison takes over for the rest of the night.  Catch them tomorrow night around midnight at Nietzsches before they become too big to play our 2nd birthday party.
