Last year at this time Buffalo produced the UNITE festival. Certainly not without it’s hitches, UNITE gave us Buffalo electronica connoisseurs an amazing weekend of music. This year there will be no such festival; however, the individual work of Buffalo Promoters and DJs will be in full effect! Fans of dance and electronica music will have no shortage of fun this Memorial Day weekend! I can assure you. Pray for good weather and kick off your summer properly:
thursday 5/25
ROOTS COLLIDER W/ BIG BASHA

10p-1a
21+
DBGB’S
253 allen st. Buffalo, NY
Those folks in Buffalo who have not caught up with Roots Collider yet will get another opportunity at DBGB’s tonight. And you had better act now because they are blowing up fairly quickly and will likely be playing less in WNY. Out of the Rochester area, Roots Collider is an energetic livetronica act based in Drum and Bass and Dub. Give them a listen and its easy to see why the BUF/ROC jam scene has latched on to their roots. Don’t forget about the BASHA and other Frosty Tone DJs providing local support. Thirsty Thursday in Buffalo.

SHPONGLE PRESENTS: THE SHPONGLETRON EXPERIENCE

9p-2a
$15-20/16+
TOWN BALLROOM
681 main st. Buffalo, NY
To say that I am excited for this show is an understatement. When I was first really into the Disco Biscuits, I remember Brownie saying at Camp Bisco that he thought Shpongle was the most beautiful music ever created. I had heard of Hallucinogen at that point, so I decided to check out Simon Posford’s other act. Part of me agrees with that bold proclamation. It is nearly impossible to organize all of the sounds of Shpongle under one umbrella. The team of Simon Posford and Raja Ram seemed on a quest to unlock the secrets of the universe and of the human mind with the music of Shpongle. I was lucky enough to do an email interview with Simon in anticipation of the show tomorrow, so check buffaBLOG early tomorrow for that and an extended preview of the show! I’m definitely pleased to find out that Town Ballroom will embrace their multiple spaces and feature local supporting acts of a different flavor including the party boys of SwaggleRock out in the front room. More tomorrow on why to experience Shpongle.
FIASCO

10p-4a
18+
BAYOU
79 w. chippewa st. Buffalo, NY
It’s FIASCO number two; the new monthly event presented by the Queen City Cartel and B.A.D.ass DJs at BAYOU every last Friday of the month. Need to keep the party going after Shpongle? You’ll have some choices down on Chippewa. This event will feature the PARTY that is SUNGLASSES MIKE, ANGELO PETRUCCI voted Buffalo’s best DJ in ARTVOICE’s Best of Buffalo 2011, MEDISON for your ears, and “the Cannon” MARIO BEE!
FOR THE LOVE: SUPPORT BUFALO ARTISTS
10p-4a
$5/21+
OMEGA LOUNGE
42 w. chippewa st. Buffalo, NY
And if you want even more flavors of dance music, migrate over to Omega Lounge on Chippewa as well. This event is a fundraiser to support local artists. This is in preparation for a larger event in June that will showcase artists in the city of Buffalo. DJs on the bill are as follows: KILLSOUND:3:STUNTMAN:METAMETIC:SWAGGLEROCK.
saturday 5/27
BOBBY RAINMAKER-3PO-XOTEC
10p-4a
21+
DBGB’S
253 allen st. Buffalo, NY
This is going to be a good night. The lineup for this show at DBGB’s on Saturday is just nutty. This is how it’s going down in order: BASHSA b2b the VERDICT>3PO>TWIST>BOBBY RAINMAKER>XOTEC>MEDISON>LOONEY TUNES. In my opinion that is a great lineup of DJs to throw a killer party at the hottest spot on Allen. We’re not talking about good clean fun; this is dirty badass fun.

mnm presents:
CAPSIZED! BOAT CRUISE featuring JELO

530p-9p
21+
MISS BUFFALO II
Boarding at the ERIE BASIN MARINA Buffalo, NY
One of the best parties every year is the CAPSIZED boat cruise! If you have ever experienced this event in the past, you will know it is the best way to get acquainted with the Summer time and celebrate Memorial Day weekend here in Buffalo! It’s a three hour tour on the Miss Buffalo II turned house party! The cruise has been sold out for weeks, and if you are one of the lucky few who were able to get on you will be treated to JELO one of Toronto’s best DJs along with favorites Ryan Liddell & 3PO. There will be a big ass grin pasted to my face as the boat cruises by unsuspecting Buffalo boaters who are treated to the sight of many debaucheries and dirty dancing on the party vessel. All aboard!
mnm presents:
SUNSET SUNDAYS
9p-2a
21+
PATIO AT PEARL ST. BREWERY
76 pearl. st. Buffalo, NY
And is tradition after the CAPSIZED boat cruise is the after party to mark the beginning of Sunset Sundays. This staple of the Summer is making a triumphant return to the back patio of Pearl St. Brewery after a brief one year stint at Encore. It just wasn’t the same there. I’m sure we’re all happy that each Sunday night this Summer the Patio will again bump the beats. Responsibly, of course. If you got shut out of the boat, then follow up at the after party. The initial party will feature: LETHAL WEAPON:JESSE AARON:MCNASTY:BACON. Hope to see you all there!
Again make sure to check buffaBLOG tomorrow morning for my hilarious interview with SIMON POSFORD of SHPONGLE in preview of the show tomorrow!
Much Love
