I've always been a huge fan of covers, so naturally an entire tribute cd to Buddy Holly featuring some of the best musicians in the business right now makes me extremely happy. Rave on Buddy Holly is an impressive 19 tracks with each song just as good as the last. The album is packed with well known artists such as The Black Keys, Fiona Apple, My Morning Jacket, Paul McCartney, Modest Mouse, Florence and the Machine, Lou Reed and so many more.... its truly incredible. Every song on the album is perfectly matched with the artist who takes on Buddy Holly's legendary songs. The album is a true testament to how timeless and unforgettable Buddy Holly's music was. The album isn't officially released until June 28, but its currently featured on npr's first listen series. Florence and the Machine also released a video for their cover of "Not Fade Away" which is easily my favorite track on the album.
