The Drum Machine Report

Why so serious? That’s what footballer and baller Stevie Johnson would defiantly ask of the Buffalo Electronic and Dance music scene. This is not the time to panic. Take a deep breath and you’ll notice that what is going on here is still very relevant and vibrant. There will be ups and downs. Some shows will do well, and others will bomb. Some club owners will help you out and others will screw you. I say to you DJs, Producers, and Promoters: Do NOT be discouraged. The scene is in a constant state of motion (no pun intended) and you, as the workforce need to continuously contribute your creativity. Buffalo is plugged in and turned on, to you. Highs and lows are the nature of the entertainment industry. Chin-up and keep up the good work.
friday 7/29
Supernaut and MNM present:
THE GLITCH MOB
with Phantogram and Com Truise

8p-1a
$17-20/All Ages
TOWN BALLROOM
681 main st. Buffalo, NY
MNM and Supernaut team up again to bring you what promises to be an amazing show featuring a lineup of extremely fresh and talented artists. The headliner, and power hitter, THE GLITCH MOB will step up to the plate and slay the party featuring tracks from their latest EP We Can Make the World Stop. The first time I saw them, I was spooning up pieces of my face from the floor after the show.
Now if the show was just TGM it would be amazing, but the booking also features PHANTOGRAM, one of buffaBLOG’s favorite bands! In fact we like them so much that we use their track “Mouthful of Diamonds” as the opener for the buffaBLOG radio show, which if you haven’t checked out yet, DO IT! And finally the newest notable of the new wave movement COM TRUISE, master of Synth stylings. Each of these artists are extremely hot right now, so I highly recommend you cough up the bread to check them out while their stopping through your city. No regrets.

FIASCO

10p-4a
$5/18+ $3/21+
BAYOU
79 w. chippewa st. Buffalo, NY
If you wanna keep the party going after the Town Ballroom, it’s just a short walk over to Chippewa to hit up the club for another FIASCO. Resident DJ, SUNGLASSES MIKE, the host with the most, welcomes in the Queen City Cartel every last Friday monthly to sexify the Chip strip with good tunes. This installment will feature the DJs of THE COMMUNIST PARTY along side MEDISON and LOKI, a Drum and Bass ninja, stepping out of the comfort zone to play a house set. You wont want to come down and stop moving after The Glitch Mob, so head over to Bayou afterwards to brush off the jitterbugs on your shoulders.
saturday 7/30
SUMMER HOUSE SESSIONS

10p-4a
SOCIAL
228 franklin st. Buffalo, NY
Out on the patio at Social on Saturday Buffalo’s ANGELO PETRUCCI will bring in the house gunner PAUL KUENZI. Going for that Miami progressive house feel, the back patio and cabanas will provide the perfect atmosphere for this type of party. Last week the Summer Vibe party was the talk of the town, and it proved that if enough people show up, this spot could be the new outdoor hotness.
monday 8/1

Hurray! THE OWSKI comes out of hiding!
In keeping with this week’s theme I’d like to say BIG UPS to Mike Marshall for booking a crazy list of shows this Fall. If you want to see the full slate please visit MNM Presents, but it’s already shaping up to be pretty badass! Also be sure to check out a sample of what AREHOUSE has been working on lately, producing some Moombah style beats with his own flavor. Posted below is some of the new new.

Stay tuned though because August is going to come right up from behind to poke you Buffalo; for God sakes, David Heartbreak is coming, and I’m going to miss it! Who am I to bitch? This weekend I’ll be traveling down to the City to check out the MAD DECENT Block Party featuring Zed’s Dead (TOR) and Claude von Stroke (DET). If you would like to keep up with me this weekend and check out video and photos from the event, follow TDMReport on Twitter. Much love and respect.
