Tonight: Lynyrd Skynyrd (sort of)

Yeee-haw!! Pack that cooler full of Miller, throw it in the pickup, and head on up to Artpark for Lynyrd Skynyrd -- the most legendary Southern rock band of all time, according to many. There's one problem, though: the only remaining member of the original seven-piece band is guitarist Gary Rossington. Still, I've heard from friends that this new version of Skynyrd puts on a great show if you dig the band's tunes. I'm personally not a huge fan; I like some of Skynyrd's songs and their talent is undeniable, but I've just never been able to fully get into their sound. Nevertheless, if I had nothing to do tonight, I'd make the trip up to catch live versions of classics like "Free Bird," "Gimme Back My Bullets," "Swamp Music," and that song from Happy Gilmore. And even if you hate the band, there will be at least one saving grace at the free show at Artpark tonight: people-watching at its best.

  1. Skynyrd was one of the first concerts I ever went to and it was great. I will never forget the first time I saw simple man performed live. Made me see them 7 more times including unplugged at the Rhyman. Great post keep up the hard work. Check these out IStillGotMyGuitar.
