Infringement Festival Day Five

Infringement Fest has been a blast so far. We got a kick seeing Bill Times A Billion cover the Verve Pipe's "Freshmen", danced our shoes off at the College Street Block Party, and laughed with some strange Elvis impersonators right out side Rust Belt Books. But the party doesn't stop just because the work week started. Infringement Fest is going strong until Sunday and we got the low down on everything cool happening today.

1. Jen Whitmore @ Cafe Taza 5:00pm
There couldn't be a better performer for this tiny little venue. Jen Whitmore's haunting acoustic folk goes down quite easily in the traditional coffee house style setting allowing one to absorb the music without feeling overwhelmed. Plus you can grab a coffee to give you that extra energy boost for your Infringement festival venue hopping.

2. Dr. Companero's Magic Lantern Series @ Sugar City 5:45-6pm & 10-10:15pm
Ancient Aliens is one of my favorite shows on the history channel. All those weird alien-like hieroglyphics and cave paints really make you wonder. Well you can get a little more of that type of things at one of this evening's two performances. It's only a brief 15 min lecture but one that is sure to leave your mind puzzled and questioning the mysticism of the world as we know. Presented with remarkable images on the nature of reality, UFOs, megaliths, eschatology, and conspiracy theories, what isn't there to like about this?!

3. Best Monday Ever @ Nietzsche's 6-10pm
Nietzsche's once again has a stellar line up of ecliptic bands to wet your pallet. Get there early for one of our favorite local acts Love Scenes. We've raved about this band since the early days of the blog and they only seem to be getting better. Stay late for Sea Snake Vs. A new band we've recently become fans of whose band bio is steeped in mystery. They will also be playing at our own Infringement Festival party this Saturday!

4. Chanting the Sacred & Profane @ Under the Bridge in Delaware Park 6-7pm
We're not exactly sure what this is but from it's description on the Infringement festival website, it looks like an invitation to scream Bloody Mary under that iconic stone bridge in Delaware Park. The official description reads "Experience the vibrations of pure sound under the bridge in Delaware Park. Bring voices and unamplified instruments to explore the acoustics of the stone archway. Listen or participate."... hmm sounds interesting.

5. Will Folk for Food @ Buffalo Bar Fly 5-6pm
Two violinists and a guy with more drums and percussion instruments that you can count on two hands. He's seriously like some robocop/inspector gadget drumming hybrid. These three friends have been making the rounds of Infringement Fest since the start. We happen to catch them at yesterday's College St. Block Party and they almost stole the show. If you miss them today, they'll be playing all next weekend on the streets of Allen.
