Know Your Opener: The Head and the Heart

While The Decembrists have pretty much become a household name (or at least a “dormroom name”) over the past decade, fans who're making the trek to see the indie titans at Artpark tonight might not be as familiar with their stage-sharers The Head and the Heart. This Seattle-based group is relatively young, having formed in 2009, but they've quickly earned a reputation for their excellent song-crafting. Their folk style is gentle-yet-powerful, smart-but-not-pretentious, and undeniably catchy. Even if you're not making the pilgrimage to Artpark tonight, do check them out. And who knows, maybe they'll come back around again on their own (and with cheaper admission).
