Tonight: O.A.R.

If you went to college, or even went to a college party, you probably have heard O.A.R's "Crazy Game of Poker" at least 100 times.  You may have become sick of it, but deep down you know you really enjoyed the fun that song brought with it.  O.A.R. have been making their funky college rock since 1996.  Starting as just a garage band in Rockville, Maryland,  the members went off to college with their material in hand.  Due to large college networking and distribution, their music was being played all over the country without O.A.R. even knowing about it.  Immediately they were huge, and it was all thanks to word of mouth.  The band is really known for their live performances, in which viewers see their songs changed on a nightly basis and can often be anywhere from a couple minutes to upwards around fifteen minutes.  Lead vocalist Mark Roberge brings his extremely raspy voice front and center, and adds a reggae tone to some of the bands songs.  Between their simple, but epic solos and riffy saxophone licks, O.A.R. has been exciting crowds and making people feel good at their shows.  Tonight they bring their act to Lewiston's Artpark for free.  Show kicks off around 6:30 and here is to hoping the weather holds out for this one.
