First Listen: Sample Mad Dukez & CUFX's "The Inspiration"

Recently, the owner of Buffalo based clothing outfitter EKL dropped us a line to throw a spotlight on a Buffalo hip hop group that have been helping them promote. They sent us a promo video, and asked us to take a gander.  Enter CUFX and Mad Dukez. CUFX has been a part of Buffalo hip hop for sometime, though it might be a bit overambitious to self title him and his co-collaborator "forefathers of Buffalo hip hop" as the video claims in its tags. Monikers aside, CUFX has no doubt been asserting himself in the post-millennial era as one Buffalo's best DJ's, and recently began collaborating with emcee Mad Dukez for an album entitled The Inspiration. We were lucky enough to get a few sample tracks along with the video for the track "Def Life", and all three of the sample tracks are as impressive as the first single. Sampling from eloquent hip hop acts such as Rhymesayers' Records owners Atmosphere, the duo bring an rawness that has been much needed in the Buffalo hip hop scene. The single "Def Life" features an ominous organ riff that allows Mad Dukez to flex attitude as well mic skills, and the release of this album may be a a paradigm shift in the spirit and direction of Buffalo emcee-ing. The video is shot very professionally, and when the album drops, we are sure to hear more from these two. Check it out below.
