Tonight: Mikrokolektyw

Mikrokolektyw is a jazz side project of drummer Kuba Suchar and trumpeter Artur Majewski, who were apart of a very popular Polish band named Robotobibok.  The two began improvising in 2004 with a more acoustic styling of stripped down jazz.  The idea behind the acoustic and a some loops and sampler was to really evolve their talents through improvisation.  Their take on jazz is extremely accessible to even the newest of listeners.   The duo takes a lot of inspiration from the likes of Don Cherry, Ed Blackwell and Max Roach.  If you are looking for some fine Polish music or just something to do tonight, check out Mikrokolektyw at Hallwalls starting at 8pm.  Tickets are $15 and $10 for members/students/seniors.
